Independence Day

Our 4th of July was filled with fun festivities! First we dressed in our most patriotic attire.

In the morning we went to a local parade. The kids had fun with their friends and picked up lots of candy.

And I have to brag on Sawyer. During the parade there were lots of kids swarming for the candy. Nora wasn't quite fast enough and often she was not able to grab anything. Sawyer protected her from the swarms of people and gave her several pieces of candy. After the parade was over I told Sawyer it was time to go and he said: "No, I wanted to get Nora more candy!" He is a crazy, rambunctious boy, but he certainly loves his sister and is always looking out for her.

That night we went to a friends house for a BBQ. The kids had fun playing with friends. Nora liked the sparklers. Sawyer was excited to get them out, but once they were lit he was very skeptical :) His favorite part was the excessive amount of watermelon he was allowed to eat.

We planned to stay up for fireworks, but the kids wore themselves out playing so as the sun set we headed home for bed. Maybe next year we can enjoy the fireworks!
