Just Chillin'

On our new floor!

Just a sneak peak of our new floor in the living room, dining room, and kitchen. This little man likes to squirm around on it.

Don't look too closely we still don't have the baseboards and outlet covers on yet.

Projects

Projects, projects, projects...

I've got projects coming out my ears. I'm getting frustrated because I would love to complete these projects so I can show all of you, but alas right now life won't allow for me to complete any projects. So, I'm going to show you all the befores and then leave you in suspense. Maybe someday I will get them done :)

Foyer Table

Bedside tables...currently being used as a tool box in the garage

Master bedroom curtains & pillows

Living room pillows & curtains

plus a million other projects (baby changing pad, tissue cover, freezer paper stenciling, etc :)

Did you know I have not started one craft since Sawyer was born!? That is so unlike me. I am craving a creative outlet, but just can't seem to find the time with working, remodeling, and school work. Thus the reason I keep buying projects and never getting to them. Anyway all that is about to end because I have some projects I have committed too for a friends wedding and I can't let her down. So here's to hoping I still know how to work my sewing machine :)

I started this post a while ago and since then did get my sewing machine out and here's the result. A sample table runner for the wedding. Now only 23 more to go :) Joy, hope you like it!

And be on the lookout for the kitchen remodel...it's so very close...but going slowly...hopefully before the summer is over...actually I think it needs to be done by August because then I lose my husband for 4 months and I really don't want to wait until December to finish this project.

Tears

Lately this has been Sawyer's disposition every time I set him down. Sometimes he calms down after a few minutes, sometimes he does not. Up to this point he has been a VERY happy baby, always smiling and content. So, what's going on? Teething? Separation anxiety? There's a white spot on his lower gum that could indicate teething, but he mainly cries when you set him down or walk out of the room. He has even been crying in his sleep. I'll hear him cry and go into his room. He has his eyes closed and head down, but he's screaming...

I'm not against letting him cry it out, but this behavior is very unusual for him. So, what's your expert opinion...teething, spoiled rotten, separation anxiety, just a passing stage, hunger?

6 Months

Height: 24 1/2 inches

Weight: 14 lb.

Head 16 1/4 in.

He's holding steady at the 3rd percentile in height and weight.
Barring any huge growth spurt Sawyer will remain a little guy through his toddler years.

Current Sawyer events:
  • Wearing primarily 3-6 month clothes
  • Rolls over all the time
  • Babbles all the time
  • Likes to scream in excitement
  • Very close to crawling (he gets his legs under him and his arms up, but he hasn't quite figured out how to move once he's there)
  • Has eaten avocado, sweet potato, and green beans and likes them all
  • Constantly moving by scooting and turning circles
  • Cutting two bottom teeth (the tops are through the gum)
  • Sleeps from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am
  • Loves to play with the ball and in the exersaucer
  • Stands and has started "walking" toys around
  • Laughs at diaper changes, zipping up his pj's, eskimo kisses, and blowing raspberries on his cheek and stomach.

Steal Alert

Are these not the most adorable flip flops you have ever seen? Now guess how much they cost?

$1.75!

Don't walk, run to your local Baby Gap for a pair for your favorite little one. They had several different styles. I wish I had bought more...but really how many pairs of shoes does a kid who can't walk need :)

Disregard this post if you already received the memo. I haven't shopped in a mall in about 2 years, so I was blown away by the sale.

Seeking Vacation Advice

We are leaving for a much needed vacation in a few days. I can't wait!!! However, I have never traveled with an infant. Any sage advice from all the experienced mothers out there?

Here's the baby packing list thus far:
  • Swimsuit x2
  • Rash guard shirts x2
  • Sun shade
  • Pool float
  • Pool ball
  • Pacifiers
  • Milk
  • Sunscreen
  • Hat
  • Towel

Stuff to buy when we get there:
  • Diapers
  • Baby food
Any supplies I forgot? Any fun activities you would suggest for a 6 month and a 1 1/2 year old?

And these pictures have nothing to do with vacation, but I knew the grandparents would yell at me if I didn't post pictures of Sawyer.

The Great Grandparents

Last week Sawyer's great grandparents (Papa & Tache) drove all the way from Kansas to see him. Literally, to see him as they barely said hi to us on the way in :)

They gave Sawyer lots of extra attention. Plus they helped with Gracie and even took in some swim lesson action.

It was great to see them!

Birthday Weekend

For Kyle's birthday I had one surprise...His brother Jake and sister-in-law Audra were coming for the weekend. They were going to surprise him at the evening BBQ. Everyone had kept the secret for weeks. On Friday morning Troy, one of Kyle's brothers, stopped by and on the way out he flippantly said, "See you at 6, we'll bring Jake and Audi." Then he walked out the door. Kyle looked at me. I didn't know how to cover it up. I wasn't sure if Kyle heard him or if he connected the dots. Then Kyle smiled and I knew it was all over. Oh well, he was surprised, just not at the right time :)
Friday, Kyle's actual birthday he went to work in the morning. In the afternoon he came home, opened presents, finished installing the pantry, and relaxed. In the evening we had a BBQ for friends and family. The boys stayed up late playing poker and smoking cigars in the garage.

Saturday, the work began...On Friday our countertops and floors came in. The four brothers spent the majority of Saturday installing the countertops. The girls hung out planning vacation stuff and taking a walk. Saturday evening we all went to Outback and the boys went to play more poker while the girls watched a chick flick.

Oh, a real picture of Jake :)

Sunday we went to church, relaxed, and spent the evening with family.
