Going Home

My dad is currently living in Iowa for his job so it made a perfect place to stop on our way home to Ohio.  When he is on the road he lives in his RV so we got to go "camping" for the night.

It was great to see my Dad and Step-mom.  Wished we could have stayed longer but it was time to get back home.  Here are some pictures of our time in Iowa.

Grandma and Grandpa with the kids

We all 4 slept in the living room and the kids had fun playing on the bed before we shut out the lights

Going fishing with Grandpa

Grandpa gave Sawyer his very own fishing pole

Sawyer even learned how to cast his line

It was super hot and muggy so they didn't stay out long enough to catch anything

Wedding Reception {Book themed}

On our final day in Kansas we had a wedding reception for the newlyweds, Cliff and Jess.  Cliff loves to read and Jess is a reading teacher so I thought it would be great to do a book theme reception with a vintage vibe.  We used burlap runners with vintage books and mason jars with wildflowers for the centerpieces.

It was a come-and-go cake and punch reception so the main focal point was the cake table.  Behind the cake table we (Jess did all the work) created a book page wall with garland.

Gift table (ignore the wrinkles it traveled all the way from Ohio)

We had a DVD set up to play the wedding ceremony

Baby Shower {Vintage Boy}

My SIL Audra is about to have her 1st baby in September so while we were in Kansas we threw her a baby shower.  There was not necessarily a specific theme just a focus on boy with a vintage touch.

We decorated with mason jars, wildflowers, vintage children books, vintage wooden toys, and a torn fabric garland.

Gift table

We played a Price is Right game and the mother-to-be got all the goodies

food table (sorry for the horrible lighting)
For the food table we used vintage books, a torn fabric garland, and a free printable vintage alphabet that we strung across the window.
On the menu was whoopie pies, rainbow fruit skewers, and crackers and cheese.

It was a great time of chatting and blessing the new momma with all kinds of baby must haves!
