The guest room is still in progress. Recently I made some more throw pillows and painted a small desk.
I made a fabric frame for my scrap fabric US map. Kyle had a piece of wood the perfect size so we simply duct taped the fabric to the wood. Tacked on a coordinating ribbon and then hung it on a nail.
Remember last summer when we cut down the huge tree on the side of our house? Well we knew we needed another tree in its place to anchor the landscaping. But to be honest with our lack of landscaping motivation it was low on the list of priorities. However, one morning my SIL called and said the trees at WalMart were 50% off so we hopped in the van to take a look. We came home with a 7 foot white flowering crab apple tree. We don't really know anything about this tree other than it has white flowers in the spring (which is what I wanted). But we figured for a $10 investment it was worth the experiment.
We also have doors on all the rooms and closets now! Actually they have been up for over a year now, but I never did an update. In fact its was about this time last year we were painting doors and came up with Eleanora's name. I can't believe that was only a year ago it seems she has been a part of our family for years! Anyway enough of my tangent you may remember when we first moved in we removed all the doors because we were going to paint them. Well we let them sit for over a year because it was going to be a BIG job (we have lots of louvered doors). They've been up for about a year and putting doors up sure does make a room feel finished :) Plus it's nice that now we can stuff things in a closet to hide them :)
We do have a few big projects for the summer that we are currently working on. Next week Kyle is going to refinish the wood floors in the nursery and guest room. We started scraping our garage door to prep it for a new coat of paint. But we soon realized it was a lost cause the door was just too old and dilapidated so we are now in search of a new garage door. We also have a fun little project in the works for Nora's 1st birthday gift. I can't wait to show you!
our lovely garage door...not only would we like a new one ours neighbors will also appreciate it :) |
