To celebrate Eleanora's 1st birthday we threw her a "you are my sunshine" party.
After a little trepidation about the weather the party was a smashing success. Here's a pictorial review of the fun.
Eying that cupcake
Sawyer had to blow out the candle for her
She was very tentative about eating the cupcake.
Papa had to forcibly stick the icing in her mouth to get her to try it.
Still a little unsure
But as you can see from the picture above she got the hand of it and ate most of it.
The Wild Wheels Obstacle course we had set up quickly turned in to a tricycle drag race
We took some family pics before the festivities began
Papa, Nana, Nora, Me, Kyle, Sawyer, Tache, and More Papa (as Sawyer likes to say)
The grandparents and the kids
The great-grandparents and the kids
Sawyer and Nora playing with the bean bag toss game
an impromptu game of ring around the rosy except Sawyer just wanted to do the falling down part
When the kids were worn out we brought out the cupcakes and ice cream bar
The kids certainly approved of the menu
Part of the favors were star sunglasses and the kids had to model them (in the dark :)
Adults and children alike enjoyed the beautiful evening outside as we celebrated our little ray of sunshine!
After the guests left we moved the party inside to open presents with family. We asked the non-family guests to bring a piece of baby clothing to donate to the Pregnancy Support Center in lieu of gifts.
However, what would a birthday be without a few gifts? By this point it was 9 o'clock and Miss Nora was melting down so mommy did most of the present opening.
organizational baskets for the present mommy and daddy gave Nora (more on that in another post) |
lots of noisy toys :) |
and a big girl car seat! |
It was a great party! So Cute! Love the pictures!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute theme - and great idea with the ice cream bar! We're doing a "candy" bar for Mackie's rainbow birthday party this coming week. I'm not as creative as you, but I'm throwing together some decorations here and there. I also love the gift idea for non-family members. And Britax - don't you just love their car seats? We have that same seat for Mackie and purchased another one on ebay for Jack's car. They're so nice and easy to install/get out/clean. Can't believe your little lady is ONE!

ps: I may be in the market for a cute baseball tee for a birthday boy in October. I've already decided on a birthday baseball theme and it's two months away! Interested?!
Amy, I love the rainbow theme and a candy bar will be perfect! There is so much you can do with rainbows! This is our 1st Britax (got it for major clearance at Target). Glad to know it's easy to install and clean. Hopefully we'll get it installed soon. And of course I would love to create a shirt for Brax's birthday. I can't believe it's already that time! Do you have something in mind or would you like me to come up with some ideas?
